I am extremely grateful. The real estate industry has been very good to me for more than 32 years. For the past few months, I’ve been making space and time to think a lot about the future – an even better future for the people I work with every day. You may know that most of my work is with association and MLS executives, their staff and leadership.

There is so much good going on right now, yet there is also a lot of fear and uncertainty about the future of organized real estate (ORE). There has been a lot of “big news” already this year. This creates an opportunity for each of us to step-back and think about the future. After all, we know it’s coming, whether we like it or not right?

Stefan Swanepoel says in his most recent Trends Report,

 “We’ve constantly spoken about change and have cautioned about the transformation that is going to occur in the real estate business. Well, now more than ever before, the future doesn’t feel that far away, it feels like the transformation is upon us now”.

I strongly agree with Stefan. What do you think? Is the transformation happening at an increasingly faster pace?

This week, I launched my new and improved website. Kevinmcqueen.com has a fresh new look; it’s mobile friendly and includes some new content along with what was there from the past. My personal goal is to co-create the future with you by writing more often. I will share my insights about your future and comment more frequently on what other thought-leaders are saying.

Everything is changing. We need each other more than ever. We need to better understand the options. Everyone has options, which I will be writing about more before the NAR Mid-year. How are you using your power to stay in the game of real estate?

It’s time for more collaboration. I have been helping groups of associations and MLSs move to action by co-creating new regional MLSs, facilitating mergers, selecting the best MLS vendors and systems. I also work closely with my clients and take-on responsibility for smooth conversions after the decision has been made. These are examples of where I am focusing most of my time these days.

Also, I have been collaborating with consultants in our business for years. I  continue to enjoy my work with Brian Larson and now Mitch Skinner creating new regionals and shared service agreements between associations and MLSs. Most recently I have been working with consultant Alice Martin doing important work together about the future or organized real estate.
